Three more Saharia tribal children have reportedly died in two villages of Karahal block of Sheopur district recently. Although their nutrition status could not be confirmed, there were reports that they were suffering from fever only for a few days before succumbing.
NGO Sahayog from Sheopur reported that two-year-old Mangal, son of Rakesh Adiwasi and four-year-old Rani, both from Daulatpur village under Baased panchayat died on September 17. On the same day, two-year-old Samar, son of Halke Adiwasi died at Garhi ka Sahrana in Morwan Panchayat.
Uma Chaturvedi of Sahayog said that health facilities were very poor at most of these villages and very few medicines are available with the field level health workers, causing such problems.
SHIVPURI: Meanwhile, NGOs have raised question on the decision of National Commission for Protection of Children's Rights (NCPCR) team to skip visit to Shivpuri district, while it would be visiting Sheopur and Satna.
While Sheopur reported 21 deaths of children, most of them malnourished, during last week of August and first week of September, four deaths were reported from Shivpuri.
Sources said that the fact NCPCR team has decided not to visit Shivpuri, but to include Satna in its itinerary has brought relief to the district authorities of health and women and child development departments. District programme officer of Shivpuri, OP Pande confirmed to HT that the NCPCR team would not be visiting the district.

{{/usCountry}}District convener of NGO Ekta Parishad has said that the situation of malnutrition is very bad in rural areas of the district and the NCPCR team should visit different villages to know the field situation so that effective steps could be taken. Uma Chaturvedi of Sahayog also said that the NCPCR team should have included Shivpuri in its visit too.
