The duo, Imran and Amjad, had fired the shot at the behest of history-sheeter Zakir ‘Bakra’. The weapon and the bike used in the crime were also recovered. The police have announced a reward of Rs 5000 on Zakir’s arrest.
The police said Zakir had planned to extort Rs 5 lakh from Yashwant Khemani, the director of Laxmi Iron Industries Company.

According to the plan, the accused went to the trader’s office in Jumerati and one of them fired with a country-made revolver to scare the trader.

On February 6, Khemani and his son Sanjay were sitting in the office when a youth fired at them. The bullet hit the counter and no one was injured. The shooter was chased but he escaped as his accomplice, who was ready with a motorcycle, sped off with him.

Police said the traders had seen the men and on the basis of that, a sketch of the suspects was made.

Also, acting on a tip-off, the police reached the accused at Qazi Camp and caught both of them. During interrogation, the accused told police that Zakir, a resident of Shahjehanabad, had planned to extort Rs 5 lakh. BHOPAL: A body of a teenaged girl was recovered from a pond near Misrod, said police on Sunday. The girl was identified as Bharti, 13, daughter of G Ram, a resident of Samardha.

It is suspected that she accidentally drowned into the water body though police don’t rule out any foul play. The police have registered a case and have begun investigations to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the minor girl’s death.
