Actor Alia Bhatt has finally reacted to Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel’s attacks on her parents. Alia was at the Critics Choice Film Awards 2019 on Sunday when she was asked to react on the comments made by the sisters.

Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel have been at Alia Bhatt’s throat for a few months.

Media persons at the event complimented Alia for her graceful stance through the controversy but asked her if it hurts her to see her parents --filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actor Soni Razdan -- get dragged in the mud with her. “Dekhiye, agar main aisi hu then my family is 10 times more mature and stronger than I am. Mujhe isme padna hi nahi hai, you know. I just want to be happy, positive, work hard, be a better version of myself every day. Log kya kahe, kya na kahe I should not pay attention to it. Everybody has a right to say what they want to say. Main bas chup rahugi, that’s my stand,” she said.

Kangana and Rangoli, who is also her spokesperson, have been attacking Alia since last year, criticizing her work and her alliance with filmmaker Karan Johar. In an earlier interview to Bollywood Life, Kangana had said that she finds comparisons between herself and Alia embarrassing because she found Alia’s much appreciated performance in Gully Boy ‘mediocre’. Kangana said, “I am embarrassed...What is there to beat in Gully Boy performance ....same snappy muh phat girl... Bollywood’s idea of a fiery girl, woman empowerment and good acting, spare me this embarrassment, please. Media have taken filmy kids love too far. Stop pampering mediocre work or else bar will never be raised.”

At the event, Alia was also asked if she has introspected about her latest release Kalank, which has received a lukewarm response from the audience. “I’m not going to analyse my film because that is something not required. Audience verdict is the biggest proof for a film and if the audience does not accept a film, then it should not do well. That’s just the way it is. We should accept it, come back, try and make sure they’re not disappointed next time.”
