Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is set to offer an intense action film with his upcoming Department, which exposes the nexus between the underworld, politicians and the police.

But to add an element of fun to the dark subject, the director has recruited actor Amitabh Bachchan to shake a leg to one of the quirky dance numbers.

Anjana Sukhani, who plays the female lead opposite Dum Maro Dum (2011) actor Rana Daggubati in the film, says, “We have shot a beautiful song where Mr Bachchan dances at my wedding (to Rana). It’s a fun song, and his onscreen charisma is something to look forward to.”

She adds that despite the scorching temperature, the veteran actor managed to do multiple takes with the same zeal and enthusiasm.

“Even during breaks between shots, we kept playing the song and remained on the set so that we didn’t lose the mood of the sequence,” Anjana reveals, adding, “When a man of Mr Bachchan’s stature exudes so much energy on the set, everyone comes into form. Sanjay Dutt also dances with us in this scene.”

The film also features an item song, reveals the starlet who plays a simple Maharashtrian girl in the thriller.

“Ramu is shooting the item number with some models. I don’t know the details, though I can confirm there is an item song,” says Anjana, adding, “I play a doctor in the film. She acts as Rana’s support system. He basically depends on her for emotional advice. It’s a sensible, interesting character.”
