Bosco Martis, popularly known as one half of choreographer duo Bosco-Caesar, is going solo for his directorial debut, which is an official remake of South Korean film, My Girlfriend Is An Agent. Though upbeat about his debut, Bosco is miffed about people spreading rumours that he is shutting shop as a choreographer.
He says, “I am not quitting choreography. Bosco-Caesar – the brand will continue to do dance numbers for films. Once my film starts early next year, I will take a break for six months from being actively involved. For all our songs, Caesar and I brainstorm and one of us executes. So nothing is changing on that front.” The duo has shared a 13-year association since they first bonded in school over football.
His film, which is yet to be titled, is being co produced by Imtiaz Ali, his wife Preety Ali and UTV Motion Pictures. The original revolved around two spies assigned on a mission to stop a Russian crime group from stealing an advanced chemical weapon. Bosco reveals, “It was Imtiaz who suggested to the banner that I would be perfect to direct this film.” Bosco first met Imtiaz when he choreographed ‘Mauja hi mauja…’ for Jab We Met (2007) and had bounced off his intention to make a film.
He says, “Once people like Remo and other choreographers ventured into making films, other banners approached me as well. Having Imtiaz for support is good. Being my debut, if I need advice, I can always brainstorm with him.” He adds, “An action thriller, in a way, has the dynamics of dance. It’s like doing choreography in a different kind of rhythm.” Tight-lipped about the possible cast for his film, Bosco says, “All I can tell you is that the film’s scale is huge and will hopefully have A-list stars.”
