Fitter, better and prettier than ever, actor Karisma Kapoor’s comeback film, Dangerous Ishhq, might not have fared well at the box office last year, but the actor has no regrets. Not even for taking a break from films when she was at the peak of her career.
“Regrets? Not at all. I am living my dream role as a mother of two... I mean films ran in my blood, I loved acting, but this is what I always wanted,” says the actor, who has to her credit commercially successful films including Raja Hindustani, Dil Toh Pagal Hai and even critically acclaimed films like Zubeidaa, to name a few.
Talking about her kids Samira and Kiaan, the doting mum’s face glows up instantly. “Samaira hasn’t watched any of my films,” she says, adding, “I don’t encourage her to watch my movies.” Does she want to act, we ask Karisma, who herself entered Bollywood when she was barely 16? “I wouldn’t encourage her to... I mean she’s just too young to decide that. Of course, she belongs to a filmy family after all... her maasi (Kareena), her mama (Ranbir), everybody’s an actor, but she’s very young to decide all that now,” says the 39-year-old, who was at Mamma Mia, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon, to launch her book, My Yummy Mummy Guide.
So, why a book on mommyhood and not Bollywood as one would expect from an actor like her? “I’ve been through this phase twice and I discovered that there aren’t many books in the market around this subject. The ones that are there are by foreign authors and don’t reflect circumstances or insecurities that Indian women go through,” she says. What next? Any new film in the pipeline or may be direction. “Well, maybe, you never know,” she says.
