I had faith in the country’s judiciary: Abhishek

Following the recent Bombay High Court ruling, Abhishek Kapoor’s name will now be part of the credits of the sequel to his 2008 film

On Friday (October 23), director Abhishek Kapoor’s long wait for justice came to an end. Around seven months back, the 44-year-old had filed a case in the Bombay High Court, demanding that he be given joint credit, with Pubali Chaudhuri, as the co-writer of the sequel to Rock On!! (2008).

Finally, now, the court has ruled in his favour, and the film’s makers — Farhan Akhtar’s production company — have consented.

“I feel vindicated because this has been going on for a couple of years now. I have struggled with this, and eventually, I had to go to the court to get my credit. But now that it’s done, I’m feeling great. I had full faith in the country’s judiciary. I’m happy that they have given such an impeccable judgement. I’m also thankful to my lawyers who had faith in me, and who stood by me,” says Abhishek.

The director says that when he was not given credit for co-writing the film’s story, he was “heartbroken”. “I just wanted to put my name on that, because it is something that I have created. They (the makers) were trying to discredit me, demean me and strip me of my identity. But this (the film) is my baby, and I had put my heart and soul into it,” he adds.
