Ever since Mallika Sherawat decided to give the Oscars a miss to shoot an item song, Laila…, for the action thriller Tezz, the industry has been buzzing with talk about how Ratan Jain’s decision to rope her in for a fancy price has miffed the film’s director, Priyadarshan and actor, Sameera Reddy. Both reportedly chose to stay away from the sets while the song was being shot.

Quiz Sameera on this and she quotes co-star Ajay Devgn’s words from the music release that she is one of the film’s heroes and didn’t need a song to showcase herself. “It’s true, I’m one of the heroes, and coming from my favourite actor, it’s flattering,” she says, admitting that as one of the ‘boys’ on the sets, she wasn’t allowed to throw tantrums and complain about chipped nails. “I’ve done some bike chases under the supervision of a Hollywood action director. He’s good, but it was me on the bike and I almost had a fatal fall,” she shivers.

Once, she was submerged in a freezing lake in Scotland, the weights in her hands dragging her down and a strong current almost sweeping her away. “For 10 seconds, teeth chattering, I waited in the dark murky water, rocks biting into my body, for my cue, even though I’m claustrophobic. It was scary as hell but I did it!” she exults.
