Both father Rishi Kapoor and son Ranbir are known actors. But the family’s women — Neetu Singh and Riddhima — have maintained a low profile, until recently. Though Neetu broke her 30-year-long hiatus from cinema to act in Habib Faisal’s Do Dooni Chaar in 2010 and went home with a National Award for the same, Riddhima has never acted on screen.

However, the duo made an exception for the shoot of a jewellery brand ad campaign, which they have been endorsing for four years now. Taking a cue from them, Ranbir and Rishi also debuted in their first ad together recently. Neetu says, “They are copy cats. They got inspired by our Mahesh Notandass ad.

Despite making herself available for ads, Neetu isn’t in a hurry to reappear on the big screen anytime soon. She says: “It will take something like Do Dooni Chaar or better to woo me.” Wouldn’t she want to play mom to Ranbir on screen? “Not for the heck of playing his on-screen mother. If as a character I don’t have anything to do besides playing his mother, I won’t do it. My role needs to be meaty as well.”

However, when it comes to Ranbir, Neetu only worries about his eating habits and sleep. “That’s the maximum I worry about. Girls are closer to parents than sons,” says Singh, adding, that she isn’t worried about his constant link-ups. “I don’t talk about that with him because half of them are not true. When you are a star, this gossip does go around. I find it silly and funny.”
