Veere Di Wedding is about a group of friends, Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shikha Talsania and Swara Bhaskar .bollywood Updated: Apr 26, 2018 13:34 IST
It has almost been a day since Veere Di Wedding trailer was revealed to the world and therefore, enough time for everyone to form an opinion about it. While celebs cannot stop gushing about it, general public had mixed reactions about it.
The Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shikha Talsania and Swara Bhaskar starrer got a big thumbs up from their industry mates. Karan Johar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Tusshar Kapoor and more praised the trailer and said they could not wait for the film. “Well done @RheaKapoor and @ektaravikapoor what a super edgy and super fun trailer!!! The girls ROCK!!!! This one is no chick flick! It tears the envelope and that too with style!!! #VeereDiWedding trailer @sonamakapoor @ReallySwara @ShikhaTalsania,” Karan wrote in a tweet.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweet actor Nushrat Bharucha also wrote, “I f**👑 love it!! A big shout out to my friend @shikhatalsania. You are now taking me back to our days, if you know what I mean.. 😜 All the best! I hope this gets you everything you’ve wished for.”
Others on Twitter, however, are on the fence about the swearing in the film and how it looks inspired from Sex In The City. “Why they named it #VeereDiWedding and not #SheherMeSambhog when they wanted to copy Sex In the City?,” a Twitter user wrote in a tweet. The film had earlier faced opposition from right-wing sympathisers when Sonam, Swara and Kareena protested against the Kathua Rape Case.

Seriously disappointed by #VeereDiWedding ! Why does Bollywood glorify male bonding with films like #ZNMD & #DilChahtaHai which had relationships & content but anything to do with girls has to be focused on marriage & full of abuses & sexual innuendo 🤦🏽♀️@sonamakapoor— Z (@leftalready) April 26, 2018
Boycott #VeereDiWedding. Who was going to watch it in the first place? The name itself attracts no attention. One can realize it must be a typical Bollywood commercial film with obnoxious dance numbers, no plot and an absolutely mindless love story (if you can even call it love).— Vinayak Jain (@vinayak_jain) April 25, 2018
Am I the only one who didn't like #VeereDiWedding trailer ?🌚— Diksha. (@Mahii7_) April 25, 2018

The film reduces the idea of an Empowered Woman to one who throws Expletives Left,Right & Center. It limits the bond of Friendship to use of Crass Language.
Hope people Reject such crap, the movie FLOPS & Fake Feminists learn a Lesson.
Concept was good but the desperate attempt to look cool by using cussing words in almost every sentence is a big turn off! Women power or the bond of friendship is so much more than using swearing words all time! #VeereDiWedding— Meera (@Happyolwayz) April 25, 2018
happened to see the trailer of #VeereDiWedding as they spoke about girl bonding.. To my shock their idea of fun seems to be limited to crass hindi and english abuses used forcefully in every sentences .. (and yeah the same abuses that they would object to on twitter) .. *cringe*— shilpi tewari (@shilpitewari) April 25, 2018
A Twitter user also blamed the misogynistic attitude of viewers for the their hatred for the trailer. He asked why it is acceptable to watch men swear but not women.
People's displeasure for swearing in #VeereDiWedding shows their deep misogynistic nature. Upar se asking "being progressive means swearing?"— Parth Gandhi گاندھی 🌈 (@iPGandhi) April 25, 2018
Come on, never asked this question when male stars swears in movies.
Same group of people probably roared in approval for Wasseypur.— Shobhit Trehan (@trehanshobhit) April 25, 2018

Produced by Sonam’s sister, Rhea, Veere Di Wedding is expected to be a comedy-drama revolving around a posh wedding and lives of four friends.
Talking about her co-stars, Sonam said, “I’m working with friends so chemistry was not hard to achieve.” She added that shooting Veere Di Wedding was “the most fun” she has had shooting for a film. “Kareena is my favourite hero to work with. People expect women to pull other women down. What’s amazing is to bond together and rule the world.”
Veere Di Wedding will hit the screens on June 1, 2018.
