Bollywood’s dancing diva Madhuri Dixit turns 50 on Monday. She made her Bollywood debut playing a young bride in the 1984 film Abodh and moved on to mesmerise the audience in Tezaab (1988 ) - the highest-grossing film of that year. The film also got her the most popular dance number of Bollywood - Ek Do Teen.

100 Days (1991)

One of the few great thrillers that Bollywood has given us, Madhuri played a woman who gets visions of accidents that are about to happen.

Khalnayak (1993)

She played a daring cop in this film where Sanjay Dutt played the titular role.

Mrityudand (1997)

Madhuri plays a married woman who faces domestic abuse and fights back later, for herself and other women like her.

Lajja (2001)

Madhuri plays a theatre artist who is shunned by her lover when she is pregnant.

Devdas (2002)

Madhuri Dixit was charming and gorgeous as Chadramukhi, the courtesan, in this Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.

Gulaab Gang (2014)

Madhuri plays the leader of a village woman group that helps women in the village to become independent.
