Pradhuman Singh in Abhishek Sharma’s next

After the success of Tere Bin Laden (2010) director Abhishek Sharma will soon start his second film, which he describes as a madcap comedy with a touch of satire. The director has cast Pradhuman Singh, who played the fake Osama Bin Laden in his first movie, in this film as well.

After the success of Tere Bin Laden (2010) director Abhishek Sharma will soon start his second film, which he describes as a madcap comedy with a touch of satire. The director has cast Pradhuman Singh, who played the fake Osama Bin Laden in his first movie, in this film as well. “I can’t reveal much, but yes I am in it,” says Pradhuman, who has just finished his own second film, director Rakesh Mehta’s Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi (2012).

“I know Abhishek’s films, so all I can say at this moment is that it will be a hell of a ride. I cannot tell you whether I play the lead, but it’s a fun film,” says Praduman, who is set to sign a couple of other projects soon. “I don’t want to speak about them either till I sign on the dotted line,” he adds. “Next year, I think I will have around three releases.”

Comedy seems to be Praduman’s forte. He caught the imagination of the nation when he played the fake Osama in Tere Bin Laden, and now, in Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi, he plays a self-proclaimed Bengali rockstar in Mumbai. “The humour in this film is dark,” he says. “It shows the darker side of the city in a very light manner. But it’s not a laugh-out-loud kind of film. Instead, it’s a slice of a life movie.”

He adds: “A Salman Khan film or an Aamir Khan film will work, but even they need to take care – their films, such as Veer and Mangal Pandey, didn’t work because the content was not good or convincing. Having watched films like Tere Bin Laden, Udaan and Peepli [Live], people have started expecting something new and they cannot be fooled with item numbers. So this is the future.”
