Shweta Rohira: People call me filmi because I quote movie dialogues in real life
Actor-writer-painter Shweta Rohira is keen on doing films, and says that the acting bug had bitten her quite early.
Shweta Rohira might have made her stage debut recently, but she is not new to showbiz. Her first stint in the industry goes back to 2006 when she did a music video for Falguni Pathak — Saawan Mein. A fan of Bollywood films, Shweta confesses that the acting bug had bitten her quite early in life and people close to her often tell her that she is ‘too filmi’.
“Though I also love writing and painting, acting is something that I always wanted to do. After my first music video, I decided to fulfil my dream,” Shweta says, adding, “Every time I watched a movie, I used to say ‘oh, this character is so cool’ and would try to imitate him or her. Earlier, my weekends used to be mostly spent watching films. Now that I have other commitments, I do take out time and watch latest releases.”
A movie buff, Shweta confesses that she often quotes film dialogues in real life, too. “My family and friends tell me that I am very filmi and I accept it. They also call me drama queen, filmi chick, etc. My mom once told me that given my antics since childhood, they had no doubt that I would become an actor one day,” laughs Shweta, Salman Khan’s rakhi sister.
Having tasted success with Bharat Dabholkar’s drama That’s My Girl, Shweta now wants to explore the big screen. “I have grown up watching Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)... Even when I was working on the play, my look in it, to an extent, is inspired by Kajol. I am very fond of romantic films and would love to do something in that genre. Let’s see what’s in store for me,” adds Shweta.
