The Economic Times reported that Gangs of Wasseypur producer Sunil Bohra, who plans to turn director with the film, has bought rights for The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making and Unmaking of Manmohan Singh (published in 2014). "My sole intention is to make a movie covering the 10 most crucial years (from 2004 to 2014), which changed the political spectrum of our country and fortunes of India's oldest political party - the Congress," Bohra was quoted as saying.

Bohra, who has also produced films like Shahid and Saheb Biwi aur Gangster, claimed that his movie on the former prime minister will be "denuded of any political agenda and bereft of any political leanings". "It will be a true reflection of what has been authored by Mr Baru in his book," he said. He plans to release the film in 2018.

HT could not independently verify the report. Emails and calls to the producer's office went unanswered.
