The country's second largest private sector lender HDFC Bank on Thursday reported a net profit of Rs 630.88 crore in the fourth quarter of the financial year ended March 31, 2009.

The bank had a net profit of Rs 471.11 crore in the March quarter of FY'08, it said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The total income rose to Rs 5,385.52 crore during the March quarter, from Rs 3,505.52 crore in the year-ago period.
Last year, the bank had merged Centurion Bank of Punjab with itself. Hence, the results for the quarter and fiscal are not comparable with that of the year-ago period, it stated.
The board has declared a 100 per cent dividend for the equity shareholders at the rate of Rs 10 a share, for the fiscal year ended March 31.
For the financial year ended March 2009, HDFC Bank reported a net profit of Rs 2,244.95 crore. It had a net profit of Rs 1,590.18 crore in FY'08.
The bank's interest income for the quarter stood at Rs 4,250.83 crore, while the interest expenditure was at Rs 2,398.83 crore.
