HUL net up 18% on biz volumes

Riding on the back of growing domestic consumer business, wherein it launched and re-launched new products, Hindustan Unilever registered a 18% year-on-year jump in net profit at Rs 627 crore for the quarter ended June.

Riding on the back of growing domestic consumer business, wherein it launched and re-launched new products, Hindustan Unilever registered a 18% year-on-year jump in net profit at Rs 627 crore for the quarter ended June.While the company saw good volume growth, rising expenditure ate into its net profit. Expenditure grew by 15% to Rs 4,881 crore during the quarter. Also exceptional gains (from the sale of properties) during the period tripled to Rs 58 crore on account of property sales.

Revenue rose by 15% to Rs 5,504 crore during the April-June quarter against Rs 4,794 crore in the year-ago period.

HUL’s consumer business was driven by a strong 8.3% underlying volume growth, with double-digit growth across segments.

“This is the fourth consecutive quarter of double-digit growth led by a combination of innovations, market development and relentless focus on execution,” said Harish Manwaniâ, chairman, HUL.
