Most European countries have been on the edge following the multiple terror strikes, even as places such as Brussels have been put on the highest level of alert.

“Bookings to all European destinations have taken a big hit following the Paris attacks. People are asking about other options like Singapore, Thailand and Dubai,” said Rajji Rai, chairman, Swift Travel International Ltd and former president, Travel Agents Association of India.

“Europe is one of our prime destinations and in Europe, Paris is the number one destination,” said Ranjeet Oak, chief business officer, holidays, MakeMyTrip.

“We are seeing an immediate impact of 30% to 40% on bookings to Europe. People who had booked earlier are opting to move out. Even long-term bookings have seen an impact of 30% to 40%. The expected visa tightening will also have an impact on customer travelling,” Oak said.

“The leisure traveler is postponing or looking at destinations other than Europe while the business travellers continue as per their plans. Future bookings too have taken a hit.”

“There is a steady stream of Indian travellers to European cities throughout the year. For anyone going to Europe, Paris is certainly a part of all itineraries,” Rai said.
