State-run Rural Electrification Corporation on Wednesday reported a 12.70% increase in its net profit for the current fiscal at Rs 661.96 crore as against Rs 587.36 crore in the like period of 2010-11.

"Company has posted a net profit of Rs 661.96 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 as compared to Rs 587.36 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2010," the company said in a regulatory filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
According to the filing, the total income of the company rose by 23.02% in the quarter under review at Rs 2,372.88 crore as compared to Rs 1,928.77 crore in the first quarter of the last fiscal.
The company's scrip in the BSE traded at Rs 193.20 around 2.00 pm, up 2.93%.
