Samsung to build $2.6 bln China LCD plant: report

Samsung Electronics, the world's largest maker of LCD screens, will build a 3 trillion won ($2.59 billion) panel-making plant in Suzhou, China, the online version of the Korea Economic Daily reported on Friday.

Samsung could be joining other liquid crystal display (LCD) rivals in a rush to set up production bases for China's fast-growing flat-screen TV market.

A Samsung spokesman could not immediately comment on the report.
