Telecom service providers have got 15 days more to finalise their tariffs under the revised IUC regime as the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Tuesday postponed its implementation in view of some of the operators seeking clarification on various issues.
The revised IUC regime would now come into effect from December 15, 2003 instead of December 1.
Some of the service providers have sought clarifications on a number of issues including IUC applicable for Unified Access Services, numbering, routing, point of interconnections and carriage charges among others, TRAI said in a statement in New Delhi.
TRAI said that clarifications on the above mentioned issues would be given in the first week of December.
Last week, TRAI member DPS Seth had convened a meeting of all the service providers to ensure timely implementation of the regime.
During the meeting, some of the operators had expressed apprehensions regarding issues such as commercial settlement of revenue between two players after IUC regime came into effect, but most of them had ruled out any technical hassle in the implementation process.
Long distance service provider Data Access was believed to have sought quarterly settlement of charges saying it would require at least three months to settle Access Deficit Charge -- to be paid by each operator to BSNL in lieu of the latter's rural obligations.
