Husqvarna has advised owners to check with authorised service centres to schedule the required ECU update at the earliest.

Husqvarna has issued a global recall for the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 motorcycles manufactured between 2024 and 2026, citing a potential engine stalling issue at low rpm. The recall applies to all markets where these models are sold, including India.

Why has Husqvarna issued a recall for Svartpilen 401?

According to the company, internal testing identified a condition that, in certain cases, could cause the engine to stall at low rpm. While only a limited number of incidents have been reported so far, Husqvarna has decided to take preventive action to address the concern.

To resolve the issue, the brand will roll out an update to the engine control unit (ECU). Husqvarna says the software update is aimed not only at preventing stalling but also at improving overall rideability by enhancing low-end torque and engine stability. Owners of affected motorcycles will be contacted by the company through official communication, but customers may also directly approach authorised dealerships to have the update performed. The update will be carried out free of cost.

This recall follows a similar service action undertaken by KTM for models that use the same engine platform. KTM had announced a recall for the 2024–2026 390 Duke, 390 Enduro R, 390 SMC R, 390 Adventure R, and 390 Adventure X to address the same issue.

India-spec Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 models are also affected

In India, Husqvarna currently sells two motorcycles: the Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 250. The recall is limited to the Svartpilen 401, as the Vitpilen 250 uses a different engine.

The Svartpilen 401 is priced at 2.97 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It is powered by a 398.6cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 44.25 hp and 39 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is built around a steel trellis frame and features an aluminium handlebar. Kerb weight stands at 159 kg, while the fuel tank capacity is 13 litres.
