Kia has released the first official teaser of its upcoming EV2 electric SUV, ahead of its global production debut on January 9 at the Brussels Auto Show. The EV2 will be the smallest model in Kia’s global electric vehicle lineup.
Exterior design
The teaser images show the vehicle fully draped under a translucent black cover, offering views from multiple angles without revealing detailed design elements. Kia had earlier previewed the EV2 in concept form at its Kia EV Day event, and the production model appears to remain close to that original silhouette.

From what is visible beneath the cover, the EV2 features an upright front fascia, a gently sloping roofline, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a slightly angled rear windscreen. The lighting signatures at both the front and rear also appear to be carried over largely from the concept. The squared-off nose, prominent waistline, and taper towards the rear roof section remain intact in the production version.

However, some differences are noticeable. The front overhang appears longer on the production model. There also appears to be a conventional B-pillar, another departure from the concept’s more radical layout. While the daytime running light design is not clearly visible through the cloth, it seems similar rather than identical to the concept version.

Interior details have not yet been revealed for the production model. The EV2 Concept showcased a highly flexible cabin layout, including sliding front and rear seats designed to maximise passenger comfort and cargo adaptability. It remains to be seen how much of this functionality will carry forward into the production version.
Powertrain and platform
Kia has not disclosed any technical specifications for the EV2 at this stage. It is likely to share its powertrain and underpinnings with the Hyundai Inster, which is sold internationally with two battery pack options: a 39 kWh unit offering a claimed range of 327 km, and a larger 46 kWh pack rated for up to 369 km. The EV2 is also expected to use a 400-volt electrical architecture, though this has not been confirmed by Kia.

India launch on the cards?
Production of the EV2 is planned for Europe, primarily to cater to local markets. There has been no official confirmation regarding its launch in India. If introduced, the EV2 would sit alongside entry-level electric SUVs such as the Tata Nexon EV and MG Windsor Pro.
