Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that it will launch the new CLA electric in India later this year. The company also announced plans to introduce 12 new products in the Indian market in 2026.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the upcoming launches will include a mix of all-new models as well as products that will have “no predecessor” in the current lineup. The announcement was made during the launch of the 2026 EQS range in India and the rollout of the first locally manufactured Maybach GLS.

The CLA EV range will be offered with two powertrain options. The entry-level CLA 250+ with EQ Technology is claimed to deliver a driving range of up to 792 km, while the all-wheel-drive CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology is rated at 770 km.
Both variants use a new rear-mounted permanent magnet electric motor that is smaller and lighter. this motor is paired with a two-speed gearbox instead of a single-speed reduction system. In the CLA 250+, the rear motor produces 272 hp, allowing the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.
The CLA 350 4MATIC adds a second electric motor on the front axle, featuring a single-speed gearbox. This increases combined system output to 354 hp and reduces the 0–100 km/h time to 4.9 seconds. Braking is largely handled through regenerative braking, with the system capable of delivering up to 200 kW of recuperation to recharge the battery.

Charging and Battery Options
The CLA EV supports DC fast charging at up to 320 kW, enabled by an 800-volt electrical architecture. Mercedes claims this allows a driving range of around 300 km to be added in approximately 10 minutes. The model will initially be offered with an 85 kWh battery pack, while a smaller 58 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery option will be introduced at a later stage.
