The UT electricity department has prepared the list following directions of the joint electricity regulatory commission (JERC). There are a total of 317 consumers having pending electricity bills running into crores of rupees.

Out of total, connections of 127 consumers - commercial and residential buildings - have been disconnected, while 169 are tangled in dispute with the department. Remaining 21 consumers have dragged the department to court.

The defaulters have failed to clear their bills despite repeated notices and reminders from the departments.

UT superintending engineer MP Singh said the process of recovering outstanding dues from consumers whose connections were disconnected had been initiated. They were making efforts to resolve disputes so that outstanding dues could be recovered at the earliest.

The department had informed the JERC chairman that they were yet to recover electricity bills of more than Rs 11 crore from various departments of state governments.

The chairman had directed the superintending engineer to conduct an analysis to identify the consumers, whose outstanding dues are more than Rs 1 lakh, and submit the report in three months.
