A four-year-old girl was mauled to death by a leopard in Kupwara district of north Kashmir on Monday evening.
Sumaiya Bashir was returning from a field with her parents when the beast attacked her on Monday evening near the Vilgam area of Handwara, 90 km from here, officials said.

The feline dragged the girl to a nearby forest. Later, half-eaten body of the girl was recovered by rescue team, comprising police and locals.
Agitated over the incident, locals protested against the wildlife department for its alleged failure to protect them from frequent attacks by wild animals.
However, the protesters later dispersed off peacefully after senior officers assured necessary action to prevent such incidents.
