The protesters, under the banner of the Punjab State Suvidha Karamchari Union, raised slogans against the government.

Union president Om Parkash Rana said despite giving memoranda to ministers, MLAs and to all deputy commissioners in the state, no action had been taken for the past three to four years. In case no concrete steps were taken, they would intensify their stir, he warned.

In the protest, the state president of the Subordinate Services Federation Union was also present to support the Suvidha union.

At SAS Nagar, those who had work at the Suvidha centre were at the receiving end as these centres handle the processing of licences, RCs besides caste, birth, death and marriage certificates.
