In contrast to BJP’s unstoppable march to a historic landslide victory across the country, the saffron party’s chief strategist-stalwart Arun Jaitley appeared to be on a losing ground in his debut electoral battle from Amritsar.
Jaitley was trailing behind the Congress’s Capt Amarinder Singh by 48,000 votes at the end of 6th of 14 rounds in the high-stake contest.
Former Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh, who led from the first round, has steadily increased his lead, raising the spectre of the biggest upset for BJP which was well on course to its best performance ever in the Lok Sabha polls.
