The chief minister’s office (CMO) of Haryana has sought a report along with comments of the officials concerned regarding financial mismanagement or embezzlement of funds from the local bodies department, as revealed in the audit report of the Panchkula civic body.

However, principal secretary to the CM Sumita Mishra has clarified that no probe has been ordered yet. She said, “No probe has been ordered till now. We have also asked the department concerned to send us the report with comments, based on which, we would take action.”
HT had reported that how against a target revenue collection of Rs 42.53 crore, only Rs 2.92 crore was realised in 2012-13, which implies 93.13% of the revenue couldn’t be realised. Also, the MC could collect rent worth ` 33 lakh out of ` 25 crore in 2012-13.
The audit report also found improper maintenance of accounts, and various regulations and acts were also violated.

The chest book since 2002 till date; movable and immovable property register; register of licences; stamp duty since 2010 till date; encroachment register since its inception; monthly and annual accounts since its inception; register of fire call charges since its inception; composition cases since its inception; register of provident fund accounts since 2010 till date; income from advertisements; hoardings; cellular mobile towers; registers of cattle pounds and dead animals; and registers of cheques since its inception, were not put up before auditors.
