A resolution to this effect was passed during a congregation of the new office-bearers of the committee here on Saturday.

Congress leader Ravinder Diwan moved the resolution, which was passed by the office-bearers. Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) secretary and Rupnagar district affairs in charge, Gurwinder Singh Bali, was also present when the resolution was passed.

Earlier, addressing the gathering, Diwan alleged that some members were trying to harm the interests of the party by issuing statements against DCC president Harbhag Singh Saini and about the new appointments made in the party in the district, which amounted to anti-party activities.

He said such activities could not be tolerated and disciplinary action should be taken against them and these people should be thrown out of the party.

Though Diwan did not mention any name, but he was apparently referring to the former member of legislative assembly(MLA) Rana KP Singh and his supporters and some other Congress leaders, who opposed Harbhag Singh Saini and have also condemned the removal of some block Congress presidents by Saini.
