Kulwinder Kaur, daughter-in-law of Pearl Group owner Nirmal Singh Bhangoo, has dragged Bhangoo and five other members of the family to Punjab and Haryana high court over a property dispute.
Kaur, wife of late Harvinder Singh, Bhangoo's son, has alleged that she had been deprived of all economic, financial resources and properties to which she was entitled under the law and customs, as the widow of Harvinder who died in 2011.
Her petition adds that at the time of Harvinder's death, he was looking after and handling the directorship/work as owner of number of companies including Gyan Sagar Education Private Limited, PACL Limited, Gyan Hospitality Services Pvt Ltd, Gyan Sagar Software Technologies Pvt Ltd, Gyan Sagar Real Estate Pvt Ltd, and some real estate firms.
However, within a few days of Harvinder, family members got her to sign a number of blank documents and cheques with "undue influence and threat of physical harm" and she was not allowed to meet her paternal family members and given sedatives, her petition has claimed.

The petition names Nirmal Singh Bhangoo, his wife, Prem Kaur; daughters Sukhwinder Kaur and Barinder Kaur and their husbands Gurpartap Singh and Harsatinder Singh.
Kulwinder has sought directions to the state government to assess her threat-perception and provide security to her claiming that she could be 'eliminated'.
Representations to local police including the Mohali SSP did note bear any fruit, she has submitted, claiming that her in-laws were influential.
The high court bench of justice, Jitendra Chauhan has sought a response from the state on her petition by September 24 and has also issued notices to the Mohali SSP and six members of Bhangoo's family.
