The Punjab government has appointed all deputy commissioners in the state to be district registrars of marriages. Stating this here on Wednesday, a spokesperson said the appointment had been made under the Punjab Compulsory Registration of Marriages Act, 2012.

He said all district revenue officers, tehsildars and naib tehsildars had been appointed additional district registrars of marriages, who would register marriages in areas within their respective jurisdiction.
