The CBI on July 17 had arrested Dalbir while taking a bribe of Rs 1,500 near the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) from president of the Kranti Autorickshaw Union, Sector 22, as part of his “monthly bribe” for not challaning members of the union. The head constable was posted on duty near the PGIMER for the past one year.

The CBI claimed that the bribe money was demanded for not challaning autorickshaws for any violation in the area as most of these were plying without the permit. There are around 30 auto drivers at the rickshaw stand and the head constable had promised them that they would not be troubled over the jurisdiction issue as long as the monthly installment was being received.
