The issues have appeared as major poll plank that every candidate is trying to cash in on. However, once elected none of them have raised the issue, say harried residents.

Residents of licenced colonies pay maintenance to builders and they also have to pay property tax also to the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG).

“And that is the issue of double taxation that we have opposed and challenged in the Punjab and Haryana high court in 2012 and since then we have been fighting legal battle to get rid of double taxation at cost of our own money, time and energy.

Not a single penny our leaders or MLAs or councillors, who we elected ever offered us help but now when election has come they seek out vote again to fool us,” said Brij Mohan Mehta a resident of DLF Phase IV, adding that the Gurgaon Citizens’ Council (GCC) is the only people’s body which collected funds to wrestle the issue in the high court in the past three-four years.

Now, the residents have decided to field their own candidate. “In terms of colleges, hospitals and sport-stadium, the city has inadequate facilities and the government and our local leaders have never attempted to resolve the issues.
