Jyoti, a native of Bhunga village of Hoshiarpur, was found dead on a road in Sector 21, Panchkula, on November 22.

Sources said Dharampal, Paramjit and Gurmeet, alleged accomplices of Chaudhary in the crime, were present in Sector 21 here at the time of murder, as per the tower location of their mobile numbers.

According to the police investigations, it has also come out that the MLA allegedly used mobile number 98164-64060 and the victim 98787-02293 for talking to each other and both the numbers were bought on fake IDs.

The tower location of the personal mobile number of Chaudhary 98140-44340 at about 00.43am on the intervening night of November 21/22 was also found to be in Sectors 20/21, Panchkula.

The victim had an account in ICICI Bank in the Sector-11 branch of Panchkula, where huge amount of money was deposited from ICICI Bank in Baddi. The police here have written to the Mumbai office of ICICI, seeking details of the depositors.

According to the post-mortem report, Jyoti died of head injury and recently had an abortion. She was pursuing BEd course at SAS Nagar and had been staying away from parental house for the past six years.

The mobile phone call details led the Panchkula police to zero in on Chaudhary, Dharampal, Gurmeet and Paramjit. Their arrest warrants have already been issued. All accused are absconding.

Chaudhary is also Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) general secretary and is son of four-time Congress MLA Lajja Ram.
