Haryana IAS officer Ashok Khemka has stood by his recent order of cancelling the land deal between DLF and Robert Vadra, saying here on Thursday that objectors were free to move the high court.
Khemka, who met chief secretary PK Chaudhery on the issue of his frequent transfers, the last being after his order that hurt the realty giant and the son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, said afterwards that he was satisfied with the meeting but would not speak on the details. He said Chaudhery had told him that his transfers were in the interest of the administration.
The town and country planning head, TC Gupta, had claimed in a letter to Chaudhery that there were "factual inaccuracies" in Khemka's order. Replying to a question about the letter, Khemka said it was a "red herring" to divert the real issue. "The real issue is that the money in land deals should go to the government, meaning people, and not anyone else," Khemka said, "Any issue in the interest of the country should not be diverted, and instead the government should exert to find a solution."
Khemka had cancelled the sale deed of 3.5-acre land to DLF following its deal with Vadra. The affected parties (Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, and DLF) have not objected, so far, to his order, but Khemka said they could move the Punjab and Haryana high court under Article 226 of the Constitution.
