Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday termed Congress’ Gurdaspur Lok Sabha nominee Sunil Jakhar as the future chief minister.
“Going by his capability, intelligence and contribution, you will see Sunil Jakhar as the CM of Punjab one day”, Amarinder said while addressing a rally at Bhoa in Pathankot district.
Dismissing any threat to Jakhar from BJP candidate Sunny Deol, Amarinder said the latter had no stakes in Punjab and would run away immediately after elections. “Sunny is fighting the election under pressure from the BJP. He has no knowledge of politics and is not even aware of Balakot air strikes, said the chief minister.

The Punjab chief minister also lambasted Modi for “trying to take credit for Balakot strikes”, saying it was not the victory of the prime minister but the armed forces.
While addressing a rally at Batala, Amarinder flayed former CM Prakash Singh Badal for his statement that the people of Punjab had forgotten the Bargari sacrilege incident. “The Akalis want people to forget it (sacrilege incident). But that will not happen, and they will have to pay for their sins,” he added.

{{/usCountry}}Earlier, Jakhar also took a dig at Sunny, saying while he may be adept at pulling pumps out of the soil, he did not know anything about Gurdaspur or the problems of its people. “Sunny has no idea about politics and will prove to be an ineffective representative of the people,” he added.
