The Punjab health department will launch a cancer awareness and symptom-based early detection campaign across the state from December 1.

The mission, to be accomplished within a month, had earlier been launched in Faridkot district as a pilot project, Punjab health minister Madan Mohan Mittal said here on Wednesday.

He stated that the department had taken various initiatives for improved delivery of health services in the past six months to deal with communicable and non-communicable diseases.
In Faridkot district, the cancer awareness campaign was conducted by 744 teams of field workers who paid door-to-door visits and covered the population of the district spread over 173 villages and three towns-Faridkot, Kotkapura and Jaito.
