Rahul to visit Jalandhar tomorrow

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi will visit Jalandhar on Friday and meet all councillors of various nagar councils, corporators of various municipal corporations and members of zila parishads and panchayat samitis.

Stating this here on Wednesday, a Punjab Congress spokesperson said Rahul, during his visit earlier this month, had promised to tour Punjab again to elicit views of all sections of the party. The purpose of meeting all elected councillors and others is to know the mood of the public at the grassroots level as these representatives are known for their day-to-day interface with the common man, the spokesperson said.

The councillors and others from across Punjab have been asked to reach Jalandhar on Friday. Passes for the purpose are being issued by the state Congress unit.

During his recent visit to Amritsar and Chandigarh, the councillors and others had not been able to meet Rahul.
