Woman thrashed, hurled abuses with casteist remarks in MP’s Khargone

The victim, tied for at least two hours and thrashed, alleged that the accused did not want her to live in their neighbourhood because of her caste.

An elderly woman was allegedly tied up and assaulted in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh by a group of people while hurling casteist remarks. A video of the incident has emerged on social media. The incident took place on Friday afternoon in Hirapur village, Live Hindustan reported.

The victim, tied for at least two hours and thrashed, alleged that the accused did not want her to live in their neighbourhood because of her caste. She also claimed that she was repeatedly threatened that her house will be demolished. The woman identified the accused as Ganesh Yadav, whose wife and mother also allegedly beat her up. After abusing the victim, the family allegedly broke into her home and tied her hands and legs.

In a similar incident that took place on January 9, a Dalit man was allegedly assaulted and held hostage overnight for offer praying at a temple in Salra, Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi. In this case, five men from the upper-caste were booked.
