As the grand Shaheed Smarak to commemorate the revolt of 1857 awaits formal inauguration, Haryana energy minister Anil Vij on Wednesday said that another grand chapter is being added to the war memorial under which a 210-foot-high National Flag (Tiranga) will be installed in the complex.

Vij said that the Tricolour will stand taller than the 206-foot memorial tower, symbolising patriotism and national pride visible from afar, and will become the tallest National Flag in Ambala. On Wednesday, the minister visited the memorial site in Ambala to inspect the proposed location for the installation of the National Flag and held discussions with officials.

He directed the concerned authorities to expedite the installation process. Present on the occasion, memorial director Kuldeep Saini said that the National Flag will be installed by the Flag Foundation of India and that a technical team will soon visit the memorial for the work.
