Man gets 20-year RI for sexually assaulting 6-yr-old boy

A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison and fined ₹1.10 lakh for sexually assaulting a six-year-old boy in India. He was convicted under the POCSO Act.

A court here on Monday sentenced a 19-year old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a six-year-old boy.

The court of additional session judge Amarjeet Singh also imposed a fine of 1.10 lakh on him. He was convicted under section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act.

Yogesh Prasad, public prosecutor, said that an FIR was registered on January 1, 2022. The victim’s father had told police that the accused, Vishal Singh alias Sanju, 19, of Lalton Kalan, had taken his 6-year old son to his room on the pretext of giving a kite, and sexually assaulted him.

An FIR under sections 377 of the IPC and 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act was registered at Sadar police station.

Convicting the accused under section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act, the court has awarded him rigorious imprisonment of 20 years and imposed a fine of 1.10 lakh.
