The Chandigarh administration will put up 96 liquor vends for e-auction for the coming fiscal year.

The administration declared the excise policy 2022-2023 on March 4. Bid submission will start from March 14 and bids will be opened on March 22.
While the revenue target for the outgoing fiscal was around ₹700 crore, the projected revenue for upcoming fiscal is around ₹830 crore.
Liquor vends in peripheral areas, sharing border with neighbouring states, continue to have higher reserve prices than inner city vends. A vend in Dhanas has the highest reserve of ₹10.39 crore. Last year, it was auctioned for ₹11.55 crore. Located near the Punjab border, the Dhanas vend gets a lot of business as buyers from neighbouring states queue up here to buy liquor as the rates in Chandigarh are relatively cheaper.
The vend with the second highest reserve price is located near Panchkula border in Mauli village, with a reserve price ₹8.71 crore.
To curb the menace of cartelisation and monopolistic practices, a single person/entity/company/firm will be collectively entitled for allotment of a maximum of 10 vends. If any bidder secures more than 10 bids by virtue of being the highest bidder, even then the applicant will be eligible for 10 vends only.
