Four men barged into an apartment in Maya Garden City, Zirakpur, on Monday and brutally assaulted a 29-year-old cab driver with a metal griddle and sticks.
According to the victim, Pulkit, a native of Haryana’s Kaithal, the main accused, Deepak Sachdeva, and three others reached his apartment around 11 am and started thrashing him. The assailants also allegedly also recorded a video of the assault.
Hearing the commotion, some neighbours gathered around, following which, the accused fled but not before issuing him death threats.
Pulkit was then rushed to the Dhakoli civil hospital from where he was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh, for treatment.
Based on his statement, police have booked Sachdeva and three unidentified persons under Section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (criminal acts done by several persons) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
