As the family awaits the body of the 23-year-old seafarer who was killed in a US strike on an oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz on June 10, the principal media advisor to the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, Naresh Chauhan, urged the Union government to bring back them body and investigate the incident.
A deck cadet from the Hamirpur district, Aditya Sharma, was among the three Indian crew members killed, following a strike on a commercial vessel off the coast of Oman.
Chauhan while speaking to HT on Tuesday said the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Union government and urged it to ensure that the victim’s body is brought back to India at the earliest and that the circumstances surrounding the incident are fully investigated.
“The CM has spoken to the bereaved family and the state government is extending all possible support. We are committed to ensuring that the body of the deceased youth is brought back home. It is also the responsibility of the Government of India to take up the matter with the concerned authorities and ascertain the reasons behind the incident,” Chauhan said.
