A day after the killing of Pakistani Lashkar commander in Srinagar’s Hazratbal area, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said two more militants were accompanying him at the time of the encounter and were planning to snatch weapons from policemen.

The police identified the commander killed in the encounter as Manzoor alias Haider alias Hamza, a Pakistani national affiliated with LeT/TRF. The police said that the commander was active in the city and termed his killing a big success.

“The killed terrorist, along with two other accomplices, who managed to escape from the spot, were on a mission to snatch weapon from the police personnel guarding the Hazratbal Shrine. The timely action of small police team which was tracking them led to the elimination of foreign terrorist. Efforts are on to track the other two terrorists who fled from the spot. As per police records, he was a close associate of terrorist commander Mehran of proscribed terror outfit LeT (TRF) and involved in several terror crime cases including civilian atrocities,” Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said.

“As per police records, both the killed militants were categorised militants and wanted by law in many terror crime cases,” the police said.
