EPFO official caught taking bribe

While the Central Bureau of Investigation has not released the details of this arrest yet, the officer has been identified as Shubham Tyagi

An official of the Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) posted in Patiala was caught accepting a ₹1.5 lakh bribe in the EPFO office in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

While the Central Bureau of Investigation has not released the details of this arrest yet, the officer has been identified as Shubham Tyagi. The victim is a contractor in Punjab and had an inquiry going on over PF payments of his employees which was being probed by Tyagi. He had offered to help him in exchange for the payment.

A CBI trap was laid at the EPFO office in Sector 17 on Wednesday and Tyagi was allegedly caught red-handed. A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered and Tyagi is to be presented in court on Thursday.
