A husband-wife duo has allegedly died by suicide by hanging themselves at their house in Khanauri. They were stressed due to a home loan of ₹8 lakh, said a police official.

A husband-wife duo has allegedly died by suicide by hanging themselves at their house in Khanauri. They were stressed due to a home loan of ₹8 lakh, said a police official. The deceased couple is survived by a son (8- years-old) and a daughter (5-years-old).

Brother of the victim, told the police in his statement that the deceased man had taken a loan of ₹8 lakh to buy a house. However, he was not able to repay the installment, which lead him and his wife to hang themselves on late Wednesday evening.

Deputy superintendent of police Lehra, Pushpinder Singh said the couple was under stress as they were failing to repay the home loan that they had taken from a private firm.

Inquest proceedings under Section 174 of The Code of Criminal Procedure have been initiated into the incident, he added.
