Those suspended are Sonu, former in-charge of Gokran check-post and four other police personnel.

In his complaint to Rohtak assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Medha Bhushan, the hotel owner, Robin Nandal, said three policemen from the Gokran check-post visited his hotel on June 14 and were joined by two others.

“They checked the hotel register and asked me about the guests staying in the hotel. The check-post incharge Sonu started thrashing me and they brought me outside the hotel. They asked me to pay money and threatened to lock me up. Fearful, I paid them 12,300. They then asked me to pay 20,000 per month for smoothly running the hotel,” he added.

Bhushan added that he, along with a dhaba owner, reached the city police station the same night and later filed a complaint with Rohtak ASP.

“After the incident, all five cops were transferred to police lines and now they were put under suspension. A departmental enquiry has been started against them,” the SP added.
