High court dismisses gangster Bhagwanpuria’s mother’s plea
The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday dismissed a plea from the mother of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, who had approached the court claiming that her son could be eliminated in a fake encounter.

The mother, Harjit Kaur, had demanded that her son be provided with a bulletproof jacket or bulletproof vehicle at all times when he is taken outside the jail or is inside the jail.
The high court bench of justice Manjari Nehru Kaul dismissed the plea observing that as he is lodged in the Tihar Jail, the court would refrain from passing any directions due to jurisdictional issues.
Earlier, Punjab’s counsel had told the court that the plea was not maintainable as he is lodged in a jail outside the territorial jurisdiction of the high court.
The Punjab Police is probing Bhagwanpuria’s role in the broad daylight murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala in Mansa on May 29.
Another petition filed by gangster Amit Kumar Dagar has also been disposed of. The plea demanded “adequate security” on the jail premises in Bathinda, where he is lodged. He had also demanded that either a bulletproof jacket be provided or he be transported in a bulletproof vehicle. Dagar is an accused in the murder of Youth Akali Dal leader Vikramjit Singh Middukhera, who was gunned down in Mohali in August last year.
