Hot spell sweeps through Haryana, Punjab; Narnaul scorches at 44.2°C

Sizzling heat continued to sweep through Haryana and Punjab on Sunday, with Narnaul and Faridkot turning out to be the hottest places in both states.

Most places in the two states recorded above-normal maximum temperatures. In Haryana’s Narnaul, the mercury settled at 44.2°C, according to the MeT here. Among other places in Haryana, Rohtak recorded a high of 43.6°C, Hisar 42.2°C, Karnal 42.2°C, Ambala 41.6°C, Bhiwani 43°C, Sirsa 43°C, while Gurugram’s maximum settled at 40.3°C.

In Punjab, Bathinda sizzled with a day temperature of 43.7°C. Amritsar recorded a high of 39.3°C, Ludhiana 42.4°C, while Patiala’s maximum also settled at 42.4°C. Chandigarh, the common capital of Haryana and Punjab, also braved the heat as the maximum temperature settled at 40.8°C.
